" C. W. Bill Young was born December 16, 1930 in Harmarville, Pennsylvania, but moved to the St. Petersburg area at the age of 15. He has been a Republican member of the House of Representatives since 1971, having been reelected 17 times. Young is currently the most senior Republican member of the House. From 1999 to 2005, he was the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations. He is currently ranking minority member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense.
Young was a member of the Florida Senate for 10 years before being elected to Congress. Additionally, he served in the Army National Guard from 1948 to 1957.
Young has five children. He and his second wife Beverly are outspoken advocates for our returning veterans."
